Circle Whirl & Invasion of the Body Snatchers

.
I've had a vision in my head for a long while now - a certain look and body of work I want to create as an artist. Much of what I've posted here over the last year has been my attempt to reach this goal - but never quite living up to the vision I have in my head, and sometimes falling WAY short. With this new piece - I'm finally getting close. It's a big milestone for me.

Here it is: "Circle Whirl," the sequel to "A Portrait of T'nip Whirl" and "T'nip & Whirl."

It's my first important (for me) piece in a while, and also my largest - it's 12x12 without the white border. It's an archival print on canvas, and from my new b9180 printer --- the colors come out just right. I'm very happy - I expect this is like opening up a floodgate of future works to come.

Friday night I read Invasion of the Body Snatchers by Jack Finney. I liked that Invasion movie (the first half anyway) with Nicole Kidman and wanted to see what inspired it. I just loved the book, and it even took place in the Bay Area just like one of my other favorite books Dr. Bloodmoney by Philip K. Dick.

Jack Finney had a cool writing style, particularly with some snappy dialogue between characters... I may end up reading his entire catalog of works. I like books that are sci-fi but that focus more on human relationships than getting caught up in geeky tech stuff. Sort of like the difference between Star Wars and Star Trek. I'm more into something like Star Wars. Philip K. Dick is my favorite author. I read every book and short story he ever wrote.

Anyhow - Invasion of the Body Snatchers was good and fun enough that I read it straight through in a few hours.

Hi!

Saw your guide on Etsy forum about making prints!
It's really helpful, thank you very much for sharing and taking the time to write all those notes down for others!
